Charles Browning holds a BFA in Drawing and Illustration from the California College of the Arts and an MFA in Studio Art (Painting) from New York University. He has shown nationally in solo and group gallery shows. For the last 16 years he has taught at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia.

Tuesdays and Fridays

Each workshop is a 4 class series for $100. Payment by check or PayPal. Students supply their own materials. A suggested materials list will be sent prior to the workshop.

Portrait Drawing    Tuesdays, April 11 – May 1     6:30pm-9:00pm

$100/series     Pencil

Have you always wanted to draw but been scared to try? Now is the time! With years of experience teaching intro drawing classes I can guide you to developing new skills in a supportive environment. We will work on understanding the basic proportions of the head and how to capture a unique likeness, and then work to produce a finished portrait.


All-levels Painting    Fridays, April 14 – May 5     6:30pm-9:00pm

$100/series      Oils or Acrylics

Perfect class for the new or returning painter. Working from a simple still life we will address volume, light and shadow, color, paint mixing, and brushwork. Critique and technical advice for experienced painters as well.

   Beginner to Intermediate Oil Painting

             With Christine McHugh

             Using water mixable oils


Explore the art of painting using water mixable oils. All the wonderful qualities of traditional oils without the use of harsh solvents or chemicals.

Spring Classes are open for this 6 week course on Saturday mornings from

10am to Noon at the Haycock Community Center. Classes begin March 11th,  and run through April 15th.

Join me as we cover the basics of using the artists tools, and move along to color mixing, values, composition, light and shadow as you paint the subject of your choice.

Whether you are beginning or expanding your journey as an artist, this class will help bring you the knowledge and confidence you need to enjoy the art of creating your own unique paintings.
