Browning Art Workshops Spring 2025
A new slate of Workshops are starting on April 1st! No fooling! Springtime is a period of new energy and new growth - come and make art! All levels of experience, ages 16 and up, are welcome at any workshop. I can work with you whatever your skill level or experience. I am an established artist who has shown in New York and nationally. I’ve taught at NYU, Bucks County Community College, and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Workshops take place at the Haycock Township Community Center, 1014 Old Bethlehem Road, Quakertown [Applebachsville]. The workshops will run with a 3 student minimum and are capped at 8. Introduction to Drawing
8 weeks, Tuesdays, 4/1 - 5/20, 10:30am-1:00pm 2.5 hours
$250/series Pencil and Charcoal
Have you always wanted to draw but been scared to try? Now is the time! With years of experience teaching intro drawing classes I can guide you to developing new skills in a supportive environment.
Learn the basics of drawing from observation through a variety of materials and techniques. We will explore contour, negative space, light source, and mark-making. Many difficulties that crop up in painting are actually drawing problems, making this class a great foundation for further study with paint.
Portrait Painting
8 weeks, Tuesdays, 4/1 - 5/20, 2:30pm-5:30pm 3 hours
$300/series plus a $60 model fee for the last three dates. Total: $360
The model fee will go down as enrollment increases.
Oils or Acrylics
Learn the proportions of the head, how to compose a good portrait and to take a good reference photo, and then how to translate that image to your canvas. Using the photo as a starting point, we will bring new energy and life to our portrait through color and brushwork. The final 3 dates will be from a live model.
Color Magic
8 weeks, Tuesdays, 4/1 - 5/20, 6:00-8:30pm 2.5 hours
$250/series Oils or Acrylics
Explore the magic of color! Practice color mixing, learn color relationships, and understand color and light. We’ll begin with abstract exercises and move into still life painting that explores color temperature and saturation to develop light source and volume.
Payment for workshops is by cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal on the first day of the workshop. All workshops may serve as open work sessions for returning students, by series or for $35 per session. If paying by PayPal, please designate it as to Friends or Family to avoid fees.
